About Me
Hello! My name is Mason Kurvink, born in 1999. I am currently pursuing a degree in Cyber Security at Colorado Technical University, and I plan to continue with a degree in Computer Science afterward. My ultimate goal is to become a Cybersecurity Systems Designer, specializing in low-level Linux environments and advanced systems security.
I have a passion for programming and enjoy creating simple CLI projects. I work with a variety of languages, including Rust, C, C#, Python, COBOL, and BASIC. These projects allow me to explore the fundamentals of computing and expand my skills.
Linux & Systems
I am an advocate for Linux and use it across all my devices:
- EndeavourOS powers my main laptop and desktop systems.
- My servers run Debian 12 for reliability and performance.
- All other computers are configured with NixOS, offering a reproducible and efficient setup using a single configuration file.
Transitioning from Windows 11 to Linux has been transformative, enabling me to focus on tasks without being hindered by OS-related frustrations.
Certifications & Skills
- CompTIA Security+ Certified
- Proficient in Docker: Continuous updates, health checks, and rollback mechanisms for fault-tolerant deployments.
- Skilled in low-level Linux configuration and system optimization.
Gaming
Gaming is a major hobby of mine. I enjoy playing Final Fantasy XIV, Diablo II LOD, Minecraft, Factorio, and other titles. My main gaming system is a Steam Deck, enhanced with a Deck HD mod and a 2TB SSD. Learn more about the Steam Deck.
